For sale is my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 125,380 miles and a current inspection in 07/24.
Mechanics special due to the frame rusting, but otherwise a good car.
I am not interested in repairing the rust, this is just a second car for me.
Availability for Viewing: Monday-Wednesday.
I am otherwise in NYC Thursday - Sunday for work, but the car is at that address if you want to take a look.
There is a title shop in walking distance of the location.
Be prepared to transfer the title upon buying.
The Good:
- Overall, drives fine.
4WD drive works fine.
- Recent maintenance includes a new tailpipe, muffler, radiator, hoses, and steering rack.
- The interior is in decent condition for its age.
- All essential functions and systems are operational.
Seems reliable but the rust will take it eventually.
The Bad:
- Notable frame rust, see the photos.
My Mechanic told me to fix it one last time and sell it when something major goes bad.
- Some paint issues (see photos).
- The check engine comes on if you run the tank to under 1/4 a tank, but it goes away on its own.
I don’t know what the code is, but the car runs just fine.
- The rear passenger side lock gets switched over to child locks on occasion.
- The spare tire is missing, but the jacks and tools seem to all be there.
- The driver interior “makeup” mirror is broken and one of the interior lights is out.
Looking for $1000 firm.
Good for parts or someone could fix the rust, or just deal with the rust until it completely dies.
I am not trying to hide any issues, this has a price point of $1000 for a reason.
It is a 25 year old car that is starting to rust and should find a better home.
It isn’t worth it for me to only use it for the occasion snow storm or when I need an SUV to move something.
