*DESCRIPTION: *The Director of Communications and Community Engagement will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies to ensure effective internal and external communications, promote the programs and accomplishments of students and staff, engage stakeholders, and build strong relationships with the community.
The Director will lead a team and collaborate with district administrators, school staff, parents, and community partners to effectively communicate the district's vision, achievements, and initiatives.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities (List is not all-inclusive)* *Key Responsibilities:* 1.
Develop and execute a strategic communications and marketing plan that aligns with the district's goals and objectives.
2.
Serve as a spokesperson for the district, managing media relations and addressing inquiries from the press.
3.
Build and maintain positive relationships with local media outlets, coordinating press releases, interviews, and public statements.
4.
Develop and implement strategies to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders, including district staff, teachers, and administrators.
5.
Lead an interdepartmental team of communications and technical professionals, providing guidance, support, and coaching.
6.
Oversee the creation and distribution of internal newsletters, memos, and other communication materials to ensure consistent messaging and information sharing.
7.
Collaborate with district leaders to plan and execute marketing campaigns to highlight the district's achievements, programs, and initiatives.
8.
Manage the district's online presence, including the district website and social media platforms, ensuring they are updated regularly with relevant and engaging content.
9.
Monitor and analyze communication strategies and campaigns.
10.
Provide guidance and support to schools within the district on effective communication practices and ensure consistent messaging.
11.
Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other organizations.
12.
Stay current on emerging communication trends and best practices.
13.
Prepare and manage the department's budget.
*Supervisory Responsibilities*: Leads Communications Staff.
*REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION:* · Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
· Proven experience (minimum of 5 years) in communications, marketing, or public relations.
· Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of communication professionals.
· Strong media relations skills, including experience working with journalists, drafting press releases, and managing crisis communications.
· Proficiency in digital communications and marketing, including website management, social media platforms.
· Familiarity with design software and tools for creating visually appealing communication materials.
· Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute comprehensive communication plans that align with organizational goals.
· Analytical mindset with the ability to measure and evaluate communication strategies and campaigns.
· Knowledge of education policies, practices, and trends.
· Membership in related professional organizations is preferred.
