Job Description Overview
A non-exempt hourly employee under the supervision of the Team Leaders, the General Services Supervisor, and the Director of Public Works.
Responsible for completing daily work assignments received from the Team Leader and/or the General Services Supervisor.
Must have very good communication skills with the ability to articulate thoughts as well as to listen appropriately.
May be required to be on On-Call status and assist in call-outs.
Call-outs occur during off hours of operation, due to emergencies, weather related issues, and winter operations.
Duties and Responsibilities · Assist in the cleanliness, servicing, inspections, repair and replacement of all Township owned trucks and equipment.
Assist with house-keeping in the Public Works Complex.
Follow-up with the Team Leader who assigned his/her job assignment for the day.
· Attend all training provided by the employer to help gain and enhance their work skills and abilities as necessary.
· Assist in the decision making of weather-related conditions that have an effect on the Township.
· Assist in maintaining inventory of all materials, supplies, tools and equipment used for the completion of all work-related tasks, including inclement weather conditions.
· Assist in performing and prepping work related to and in conjunction with outside service techs and/or repair person performing scheduled work orders.
· Assist in the inspection of the work performed by outside contractors during and after the work has been completed.
Including but not limited to installations, fabrications, replacement, repairs, etc.
· Respond to the concerns of Township residents and business owners.
· Knowledge and ability to drive and or operate all trucks and equipment owned or rented by the Township.
· May be asked to maintain accurate records of the job performed daily.
· Assist in the maintenance, repairs, installation, removal, and cleaning of the Municipal and Public Works Complex, Yard Waste Facility, trucks and equipment.
· Must have good communication skills, ability to follow and enforce policy, recommend discipline, make decisions and take direction from the Team Leader and understand what is expected of him or her.
· Must understand and administer provision of Outside Agency Permits such as MS-4 as related to facilities.
· Responsible for the safe planning and execution of work duties.
· Routine inspections of property/appurtenance.
Such as trucks, equipment, attachments, lifts, tools, garages, etc.
· May be called upon to work with neighboring Municipalities at a time of need.
· Must have very good communication skills, and ability to articulate thoughts and ideas, as well as listen.
· Must assist and participate in meetings involving contractors and engineers related to projects, repairs, safety, training, special events, public safety and more.
*Qualifications: * Must have knowledge of all work-related functions involving Parks and Roads.
This includes methods, techniques, equipment, materials, weather, traffic, etc.
Must have the ability to assist, plan, schedule, coordinate, train, lead, learn and communicate well with others.
Ability to plan, prepare for and execute routine duties and non-routine projects.
Duties and projects shall be completed in a timely, cost effective, and safe manner.
Must have a valid PA CDL License, Minimum Class B/ Air Brakes or greater.
A Pesticide License may be required, must have the ability to retain this license if necessary.
Must have knowledge of or the ability to learn to drive and/or operate all trucks and equipment owned or rented by the Township.
This includes: *A.
*Trucks - Pick-up, single axel, tandem axle, bucket truck automatic or manual shift.
*B.
*Equipment - Including front end loaders, backhoes, grader, skid steers, street sweeper, tool-cat, zero turn mowers, and field prep machines.
Must have knowledge of all attachments owned or rented to the Township used on the skid steer and/or the tool cat.
*C.
*Small Engine Equipment - Trimmers, blowers, chain saws, pumps, compressors, generators, jack hammers, upright and flat plat compactors, and various hand and power tools.
*Work Environment:* The working environment may be inside or outside on site or on various job locations throughout the Township.
At times will require working in disagreeable working conditions when exposed to extreme heat or cold, noise, wet/slippery, high winds, bright or dark conditions.
Physical requirements include lifting up to 75 pounds, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, climbing, pulling, pushing, swinging, vibrations, etc.
