THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced and motivated Transportation Construction Manager 2 to join our team! In this position, your responsibilities will include planning and coordinating the activities of team members involved in the management, supervision, and inspection of various Highway Occupancy Permit projects in the district.

Additionally, you will handle more intricate matters such as high-volume driveway intersections or projects with significant impact on limited access interstates.
For such cases, you will consult with the Traffic Manager or higher management.
You will serve as the primary contact for construction field operations and inspections, and assist the District Permit Manager in overseeing the program.
You will be responsible for organizing and directing the strategic efforts of Highway Occupancy Permit construction and inspection, which involves various elements such as capacity expansion, extensive traffic control measures, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices, utility relocations, right-of-way considerations, and interchange reconstruction.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Manager 1; or Five years of experience in construction inspection, three of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity, and graduation from high school or equivalent certification or formal training.
Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation.
An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
