Summary Description Provides independent field hardware and software support on building automation systems including, but not limited to HVAC control systems, security systems and life-safety support systems.
Installs system additions and turnkey systems.
Provides front-end and operational software for turnkey systems.
Provides supervision and daily scheduling for less experienced technicians as directed by Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures.
Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
Completes all necessary preventative maintenance, work ticket, material list and credit paperwork to support field work and provides customer with required weekly paperwork.
Provides on-the-job training of Apprentices.
Provides 24-hour on-call hardware and software service availability.
Assists other technicians during their scheduled on-call rotation.
Performs repairs on desktop PC’s and associated networks.
Performs field preventative maintenance checks on electronic systems.
Provides field hardware support on electronic controllers and control devices and on pneumatic systems and other system components.
Provides direct customer interface with difficult hardware and software service situations.
Assumes full responsibility for system additions.
Manages all requirements of system additions including attending job meetings.
Installs and supervises turnkey systems installation as necessary and provides front-end and operation support.
Provides direct interface with other vendors on site to resolve conflicts between different control systems.
Job Qualifications Skills/Education: High school diploma or equivalent; electrical/mechanical associates degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 10 years building automation systems service experience with a minimum of 2 years supervisory/management experience.
Ability to understand design and design-intent of HVAC systems Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical and control drawings, specifications, schematics and ladder diagrams Working knowledge of building automation systems software Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with proven mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems and their components.
Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people including the ability to handle difficult situations in a constructive, non-confrontational manner.
Ability to organize and administer multiple jobs and tasks with good attention to detail Above average knowledge of electrical trade and applicable electrical codes as they apply to building automation systems.
Knowledge of and ability to deal with other construction trades Must be confident, decisive and self-motivated and able to make independent decisions Above average math and logic skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to work a frequently changing schedule to meet customer demands Physical Requirements: Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8 to 10 hour shifts Standing and climbing 4 to 6 hours/day Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders, and bending 4 to 5 hours/day Twisting (180° ) and walking 2 to 3 hours/day Squatting and sitting 1 to 2 hours/day Lifting weights of 0 to 75 lbs.

; and fine motor coordination for receptacle installation and wire terminations Repetitive use of feet is required for operating heavy equipment, conduit benders and vertical climbing Vision adequate for blueprint reading and color coding for wire identification Balance adequate for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0° F to 100° F; up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, and odors within the Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL).
Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and potentially explosive hazards Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task.
Equipment on an "as needed" basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, arc flash protective gear, and dielectrically insulated gloves and/or sleeves.
